The skin is the largest and heaviest organ in our body! An organ is defined as a group of cells that work together to perform a specific function in an organism. Our skin is constantly working for us so we must take good care of it. Part of this care is the exfoliation of dead cells.
What is skin exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the process of removing dead cells from the surface of the skin by means of a chemical, a granular substance, or an exfoliation tool.
Dead skin cells are naturally removed to make room for new ones approximately every 30 days. But sometimes the dead cells are not completely shed. This can result in dry, flaky patches and clogged pores. Looks familiar, right? The best solution is exfoliation, as it helps prevent this from happening.
Why should you do it? Why is exfoliation so important?
First, regular exfoliation improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We all have fine lines and wrinkles and we use different face cream treatments with anti-aging ingredients, which is great and very helpful, but with regular exfoliation we help those ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin and work better.
Plus, exfoliation keeps your skin soft, smooth, and glowing. Tell me isn't it a great feeling after exfoliating your skin to touch it and feel it so smooth?

Helps keep pores clean and prevents them from clogging. Clogged pores can cause blackheads, whiteheads, and acne (we'll cover this very soon on the blog).
Another great effect of exfoliation is that it helps prevent ingrown hairs, which is why specialists highly recommend exfoliating the skin very well before waxing. Your skin will be very smooth and ingrown hairs that cause redness and bumps, as well as complications such as cysts, will be removed.
Now that we have mentioned all its advantages, let's see what are the best ways to exfoliate.
I am very picky about skin care and how to always have clean and attractive skin, but I also look at the economy. What's more, I would say that I always look at the economy! I'm sure you see it the same way and you're trying to find the best products without giving your credit card a heart attack.
The first way is to make a homemade preparation yourself. A scrub made from coconut oil or olive oil mixed with coffee grounds. Also, you can use white sugar or brown sugar, table salt or sea salt (be careful here because the salt scrub is more abrasive).
Use the mixture 2-3 times a week, massage gently and then rinse with water. If you want a spa experience, you can also add a few drops of essential oil.
The second way, since we've talked about inexpensive products before, is to use natural cosmetic scrubs. These scrubs are a very good option because they are already prepared with sugar and different oils, depending on your taste or needs of your skin.
An example is Sugar Body Scrub with Wild Cherry o Melon, with fascinating aromas and natural oils that hydrate the skin and leave it very soft and shiny. It is very similar to the feeling of a spa.
Another very affordable option is sponges.
An example is this Peeling-sponge. You can find it in many versions depending on the aroma you like and it also contains natural handmade soap. It is just amazing and you can use it on a daily basis.
Your skin will thank you!
You can also use exfoliating body brushes or a pumice stone.
Something that you should keep in mind is not to use a body scrub on your face, as it is too aggressive. About facial exfoliation, we will talk very soon in another post. Stay tuned!
And this is what you need to have fresh, glowing, radiant and firm skin!
It's easy and inexpensive, and don't forget that your skin is unique. Take your time to find the products that suit your skin and your wallet too;)
And you? How do you choose your scrub?
