La shea butter o Butyrospermum parkii butter (Shea butter) It is obtained from the fruit (nuts) of the shea tree, also known as the butter tree.

It is mainly composed of triglycerides, fatty acids, wax esters and active ingredients: among these, vitamins (A, D, E), resinous esters, phytosterols, latex.

What is shea butter for?

Shea butter is a raw material widely used in artisanal cosmetics because of its rich texture and its ability to provide softness, nourishment and consistency to formulations.
It can be used directly on the skin or incorporated into:

• body butters, creams, lotions and emulsions;
• lip balms and products for hands, feet, elbows and heels;
• handmade soaps and solid hygiene products;
• moisturizing bars, solid balms and massage bars;
• masks, conditioners and hair products for dry or frizzy hair;
• cosmetic products for skin care after sun exposure;
• anhydrous formulations and emulsions that aim to provide body, texture and a nourishing fatty phase.

It can also be applied in small amounts directly to dry areas of the skin or to the ends of the hair.

Shea butter contraindications

Although Shea Butter is a hypoallergenic product, there are people who may be allergic to it. Shea butter is not recommended for people with tree nut and latex allergies.
