Frankincense oil contraindications 

The ingestion of essential oils is not recommended. Although it is rare to experience serious side effects from ingesting frankincense essential oil, the following symptoms may appear: rashes and/or gastrointestinal discomfort, stomach pain, hyperacidity and nausea. People with bleeding disorders or taking blood-thinning medications are cautioned that frankincense has blood-thinning effects that may increase the risk of irregular bleeding.

As with all essential oils, it is essential to consult a doctor before using frankincense essential oil for therapeutic purposes. 

Pregnant women are strongly advised not to use frankincense essential oil, due to its emmenagogue properties, which can induce menstruation that can be dangerous to the fetus. Pregnant and lactating women who insist on use are advised to seek medical advice first.

Oil should always be stored in an area out of the reach of children.
