Tea tree oil contraindications

Taking tea tree oil by mouth is not recommended. Ingestion of tea tree oil can be toxic.

Topical use: Tea tree oil is safe for most people as long as it is used diluted in a carrier oil. May cause skin irritation and swelling in some people with very sensitive skin or allergies.

In people with acne, it can occasionally cause skin dryness, itching, stinging, burning, and redness. 
In pregnancy and lactation: tea tree oil is possibly harmless when applied diluted to the skin.

Topical application: Being a 100% pure oil, it should only be used diluted in a base oil.
Aromatic use: air fresheners, aroma diffusers, burners, etc..

Important: Always consult a licensed specialist when using essential oil as a health remedy or for aromatherapy. Not recommended for pregnant women and children under 16 years of age.
